From the Hippie Dippy Weatherman to Social Critic, George
Carlin set the bar high for comedians who have something to day. His cutting
edge routine: ‘Seven words you can never say on television’ was the focus of a
Supreme Court decision finding the difference between indecent versus obscene.
His comedy credits include appearances on Ed Sullivan,
Johnny Carson, and Saturday Night Live. He created beloved character Rufus in
the movie Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Mr. Conductor on the
children’s show, Shiny Time Station.
Carlin wrote books, made albums and won awards. But more
than that he helped us look at ourselves and laugh.

It's as funny to me as his comedy that Carlin never changed his act and remained relevant for decades. Clearly he found something that worked.
There are few who'd I term 'comic genius'...Carlin is one of them, though :)
Excellent choice for today. I even used part of Carlin's bit on religion (worship Joe Pesci!) for a policy debate file and we used it for one round. It was awesome.
I guess we will have to rent a DVD of his shows. Thanks for sharing.
Hmm.. I need to watch a few DVDs to see why they call him the 'genius'!
